Questions

How much smaller are WebP files?: Usually 25% to 40% smaller than the same JPG at similar quality. On a photo-heavy page that is a real speed difference.
Do all browsers show WebP?: Yes. Every current browser supports WebP, including Chrome, Safari, Firefox and Edge. Very old software may not.
Should I use WebP for photos I send to people?: JPG is safer for sharing, because some apps and printers still expect it. WebP is best for images on your own website.
Will converting an old JPG improve it?: No. Detail the JPG already lost cannot return. You are making the file smaller, not better.
